After residing in the United States for over two decades, I've come to realize how much I've embraced American culture, but there's still a distinctly French part of me that remains unyielding. One way this part of me manifests is through my enduring love for using tablecloths in my dining room. Whenever I visit France, I make it a tradition to bring some of these exquisite tablecloths back to the US. I purchase them at various price points, exploring the vibrant and diverse selection offered by street market vendors.

From time to time, I even indulge in more luxurious ones, like the one that holds a special place in my heart. This particular tablecloth was a gift from my father, acquired in the picturesque Basque Country in the South of France, near the Spanish border. This region is renowned for its exceptionally high-quality linen. What sets these new tablecloths apart is the special treatment they undergo, making them effortlessly cleanable with just a quick wipe of a sponge. It's truly astonishing, and I believe it imparts a unique warmth to our dining room table, compelling the entire family to gather around it for meals. I must admit; that my enthusiasm for tablecloths can sometimes get the best of me.

Nevertheless, I sought to find a way to immortalize these beautiful French creations through art, to pay homage to the rich culture and tradition they represent.
